PortAventura & Cirque du Soleil Finalise Further Collaboration
After a successful stop of Canada’s Cirque du Soleil (CdS) staging “Kooza” at the Spanish PortAventura Resort this past July and August (cp. EAP news from Feb 11, 2014), the two companies have now signed a five-year-agreement to bring a number of different touring productions to the resort over the next years. More than 100,000 spectators were thrilled by Kooza this summer and the show’s success “delighted both companies so much that they immediately started negotiations for future touring extended runs”. The first show that will be presented at PortAventura during the resort’s 20th anniversary season next year will be the new “Amaluna” show, which will debut in Europe for the first time in 2015. Fernando Aldecoa, General Manager of Operations and Finance at PortAventura Resort, said: “This partnership represents another step in our international strategy to position the resort as the best family destination in Europe, a model like Sentosa Island (Singapore) and Orlando (USA).” (eap)
