USA: SeaWorld Announces Two New Attractions for 2016
Next year will see the opening of Orlando’s tallest, fastest and longest rollercoaster – according to SeaWorld Entertainment’s latest announcements. As of summer 2016, SeaWorld Orlando will be home to “Mako™”, a 200-foot-tall (around 61m) hyper coaster that will reach 73 mph (117 kph) along its 4,760 feet (1.45km) long track. “On Mako, guests will experience what it’s like to be this apex predator, surging through the water at top speed and chasing prey throughout a massive reef,” said Brian Morrow, Senior Director of Development and Design for SeaWorld Entertainment, Inc. “It will be a wild mix of fear, thrills and fun.” The new attraction will be the centerpiece of a newly themed surrounding realm focused on sharks. The 2-acre (8,000sqm) plaza will feature Mako, “Shark Encounter”, “Sharks Underwater Grill” and, themed shops. Furthermore, SeaWorld also announced to open a new major attraction at Busch Gardens Tampa in 2016 – located in the Egypt area of the park, the new spin coaster “Cobra’s Curse” will complement the park’s portfolio as of next year.
