USA: Blues Museum to Be Opened in Chicago in 2017

Even though Chicago is famous for its “Chicago Style Blues”, there has never been a permanent space dedicated to its history and cultural heritage. This will change with the opening of the Chicago Blues Experience scheduled for 2017. The interactive museum will be situated at Navy Pier, one of the most popular tourist attractions in Chicago. According to Sona Wang, Managing Director of the Chicago Blues Experience, the museum will also include two music venues and a restaurant.

The US-based design company BRC Imagination Arts will be involved in the creation of exhibits for the new facility which is expected to occupy a space of between 50,000 and 60,000 square feet (4,600 and 5,500 square meters). “It’s high time that this attraction and celebration honoring Chicago Blues happened here,” Wang says. Although the blues has its roots in the Southern US states, the music genre became very popular in Chicago during the first half of the twentieth century. (eap)
