Germany: Auto & Technik Museum Sinsheim to Introduce IMAX 4K Laser Technology at 3-D Cinema
For more than 20 years Germany’s automobile and technology museum Auto & Technik Museum Sinsheim has offered visitors unique cinematic experiences in its IMAX 3-D film theatre. Over five million guests have seen an IMAX film at the cinema to date. As one of the first cinemas worldwide, IMAX 3D Sinsheim will feature the latest IMAX 4K laser technology as of March 2016. Two huge laser projectors will project 2-D and 3-D digital 4K quality movies onto a 27 x 22 meter screen then. The IMAX dual 4K laser projection system will offer guests very sharp, bright and clear digital images. In addition to the laser projection unit, the system will include further new, self-developed IMAX technologies. A new 12-channel surround sound system with sub-bass will provide guests with an optimal sound experience in the whole cinema. For this purpose, the sound system has been expanded from six channels plus sub-bass to twelve channels. Furthermore, it has been equipped with two additional side loudspeakers as well as four new ceiling loudspeakers.
The IMAX 3D conversion works will start on January 11, 2016 and are expected to take about six weeks. As of March next year, the museum will offer its guests IMAX documentations and probably also selected Hollywood blockbusters in the new digital 4K laser quality. (eap)
