Harold Hudson Honored with AIMS International Safety Award for Improving Safety in the Amusement Industry
During this year’s Golden Ticket Awards, Harold Hudson – CAVU Designwerks’ expert for technical security – received the AIMS International Safety Award for his leadership, innovation and foresight in improving safety in the amusement industry.
Hudson, who has served for more than 21 years at Six Flags Theme Parks as Executive Vice President of Engineering and Development, has been a driving force behind raising safety standards within the entertainment industry. Furthermore, he is a founding member of the ASTM F24 Standards Committee for amusement rides and devices and currently serves on several industry standards and safety commissions and panels. Upon receiving the award, Hudson said: “Safety is a moral obligation as prescribed by our values to make sure our guests are happy, have a good time, and are safe. It’s been a great 38 years and I hope my efforts from the past as well as those in the future warrant this award.” Since his move to CAVU Designwerks, Hudson has been responsible for generating technical performance specifications for the company’s attraction systems and overseeing its testing and commissioning procedures and operations.
Just a few days after Harold Hudson received the award, the Canadian company also announced the launch of its connected corporation DreamCraft Attractions Ltd. – a joint venture with the Victoria-based company One Bit Labs, which is specialized in virtual and augmented reality as well as in artificial intelligence. The newly founded company will provide the leisure industry with its innovative “DreamCraft VR” attraction, which combines a motion-based ride system with VR-technology, providing the riders with a unique ride experience individually tailored to his or her actions. CAVU Designwerks will provide more information on the recently established company and the “DreamCraft VR” attraction at this year’s IAAPA Expo in Orlando. (eap)
