The Netherlands: “NeuroGen” – New VR Attraction at Walibi Holland
Recently, Walibi Holland opened its new “NeuroGen” VR experience, which is the first VR attraction developed by Dutch film company I-MOR (learn more about the current VR trend in our latest EAP issue). In “NeuroGen” guests are immersed into a neuro clinic, where they can have their brain capacity enlarged. After they have taken a seat (specially designed by Kraftwerk) and put on Samsung’s Gear VR headsets, the exciting and sometimes horrific experience begins.
“We have put the camera in the action and use real footage instead of computer animations. Therefore you feel you are actually present in the room and during everything that happens. You are interactively involved,” stated Mike Vonk, Robert Vonk and Rogier van de Weerd from I-MOR. The company plans to develop similar attractions for other leisure parks in the future. Amongst other things, Amsterdam-based company Quince carried out the visual effects and their integration into the headsets. Jora Vision was responsible for the building’s outside faҫade design. At Walibi Holland, admission to the attraction is permitted to visitors aged 16 years and older. (eap)
