Denmark: Knuthenborg Safaripark to Build A New Dino Forest

Yesterday, Knuthenborg Safaripark in Maribo, located on the Baltic Sea island of Lolland, Denmark, announced the opening of a “Dinosaur Forest” (Danish: “Dinosaurskoven”) for next year, which will expand the park by more than 30,000 square meters. The forested area, equipped with life-size dinosaurs, will be an integral part of the existing safari park and present the prehistoric creatures in a natural, organic environment. The dinosaur models will be supplied by the US company Billings Productions. In addition to dinosaur such as the Triceratops or the Tyrannussaurus Rex, real fossils, replica skeletons and living animals such as the Australian Emus, closely related to the dinosaurs, will also be part of the new area.

֞The dinosaurs will be used to teach our guests about the living animals that we have today. By having the dinosaurs next to a living collection of animals, you will be able to see the connection between the animals of the past and the animals of today,“ says Christoffer Knuth, the owner of Knuthenborg Safaripark. The new attraction represents the biggest investment in the park’s history. In order to make the dinosaur experience as pedagogically valuable and scientifically correct as possible, the park has teamed up with American palaeontologist Chris DeLorey, who has been involved in dinosaur excavations and the exploration of fossil finds for many years. The opening of the new Dino Forest is scheduled for the start of next year’s season on 27 April 2018. (eap)
