UAE: Dubai Safari Park Welcomes First Visitors
Once again, the desert metropolis of Dubai celebrates the opening of a new leisure destination: Recently, the new Dubai Safari Park has welcomed its first visitors, who came to discover more than 2,500 animals from 250 species spread over the park’s 119 hectare site. By 2020, the park plans to host around 5,000 animals, including the addition of further species.
The current offer for visitors features four themed villages, which guests can explore by foot or more comfortably by tram (from Dotto Trains), cable car, bicycle or e-vehicle. The areas are divided into the “Arabian Village”, the “Safari Village” featuring a safari theater for bird shows, the “African Village” hosting one of Dubai’s largest bird aviaries and the “Asian Village” offering a 600-person theater for daily animal shows. In addition, the approx. 200 million Euro (one billion Dirham) animal park, which was developed by Dubai Municipality, offers a kids farm and a relaxation area named “Wadi Area”.
Dubai Safari Park is located southeast of Dubai Creek (a saltwater creek dividing Dubai into its Bur Dubai and Deira city districts) in the Al Warqaa district and is set to develop into one of the world’s “top five” animal parks over the next five years, as acclaimed by the zoo. Following its own statement, Dubai Safari Park is equipped to receive over 10,000 visitors daily, with a total of 3,600 parking spaces available. In addition to a special focus on wildlife conservation and animal welfare projects, the zoo also focuses on sustainability, making use of solar energy. (eap)
