Germany: New Coastiality Offer Combines Roam VR Experience with Rollercoaster Ride
The VR technology specialists from VR Coaster and Holodeck VR have developed a new VR attraction in cooperation with MackMedia and the French film production company EuropaCorp featuring the theme of the science fiction movie “Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets”, which was released in 2017. The attraction combines free roaming in the virtual world (c.f. “Holodeck” in EAP, 5/17) with a subsequent rollercoaster ride experience.
“Roam & Ride” describes what visitors to Europa-Park in Rust/Germany can expect when the park reopens its popular “Eurosat” dark rollercoaster this upcoming September after extensive modernization work (c.f. EAP, 6/17 & 2/18). Equipped with mobile VR headsets replacing cumbersome computer backpacks, guests initially move around in a virtual world in which they find themselves as avatars. Seamlessly and still equipped with the VR headset, they take their seats in the coaster cars of the new Eurosat-CanCan coaster to experience the actual ride also in the virtual world.
