Spain: PortAventura World and Renfe Sign Strategic Partnership for the Next Years
The Spanish theme park resort PortAventura World and the state-owned railway company Renfe have agreed on a new strategic partnership for the next years. Under the agreement, Renfe will design and market tourism products that combine rail travel with a visit to PortAventura World. Likewise, PortAventura World visitors participating in bonus programmes will benefit from discounted conditions on rail travel – the same will apply to Renfe customers with bonus points accounts for a visit to the theme park complex. In addition, joint campaigns are being developed to promote congresses and events at the PortAventura Convention Centre (with an event capacity for up to 6,000 participants). Last but not least, both companies also plan to work more closely together in the areas of sustainability and social responsibility.
“Our priority remains to provide our customers with simple and innovative solutions, such as better connectivity to our destination. With this strategic partnership, we hope that more than a hundred thousand guests will come to PortAventura World by train to enjoy a unique and unforgettable experience thanks to exclusive travel conditions,” comments David García, board member and managing director of PortAventura World.
PortAventura World includes the PortAventura Park, Ferrari Land, which opened as the destination’s third gate in 2017 (see EAP 4/2017), the Caribe Aquatic water park, six themed hotels (five four-star and one five-star), the PortAventura Convention Centre, three golf courses and a beach club. With the “Camp de Tarragona” railway station, the complex, located about 90 kilometre southwest of Barcelona, has good connections to the transport infrastructure and, in addition to regular regional trains, can also be reached quickly by the high-speed train Ave from more distant regions of the country.
