Germany: Spain’s Parques Reunidos Group Acquires German Belantis Amusement Park
Since the end of January, rumors have been circulating on various internet platforms in this industry about the possible takeover of Germany’s amusement park Belantis – Das AbenteuerReich, which is located near Leipzig, by the Spanish operator group Parques Reunidos. Now the deal has officially been confirmed. Already on 7 February, the German Cartel Office had given green light for the Spanish group to acquire indirect control of the EVENT Park GmbH, former owner of the amusement park.
Opened in 2003, Belantis now joins the theme park portfolio of Parques Reunidos, which is the operator group‘s second site within Germany besides Movie Park Germany in Bottrop-Kirchhellen. The acquisition includes some 27 hectares of nearby land for the future expansion of the park.
“[…] We have attractive investment projects for Belantis, which will enhance customer experience, bringing the park to the best industry standards. Our selective acquisitions strategy targets companies such as Belantis, that offer attractive opportunities,” explained Fernando Eiroa, CEO of Parques Reunidos.
More details about the acquisition can be found in our upcoming March/April magazine issue (EAP 2/2018), which will be published early March. (eap)
