“World of Frozen”: Hong Kong Disneyland Reveals Novelties for 2023
Hong Kong Disneyland (HKDL) has a lot to celebrate next year, because in 2023 the theme park, which opened in 2005, can not only look back on its 17th anniversary, but also look forward to the opening of the world’s first “Frozen” themed area. In the so-called “World of Frozen”, based on the Walt Disney Animation Studios animated film, visitors will be able to dive into the kingdom of Arendelle from the second half of the year to discover, among other things, two spectacular attractions: “Wandering Oaken’s Sliding Sleighs”, the first Frozen-themed roller coaster, and “Frozen Ever After”, a themed ride that invites guests on a journey to Elsa’s Ice Palace. Although no official statement regarding the supplier of the rollercoaster has been made yet, everything so far points at a junior coaster from Vekoma. Incidentally, another Frozen-themed area is currently being built at Disneyland Paris, where construction works started in spring this year.
At the same time, Disney is celebrating the “100 Years of Wonder” next year, i.e. the 100th anniversary of The Walt Disney Company, which was founded in 1923. In this context, the long-awaited Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse statue is also to be unveiled at HKDL. The company’s centennial celebrations will be honored throughout the year with various events and appearances at the park, including new anniversary costumes for Disney mascots and new merchandise surrounding the birthday. In addition, the park will also introduce a brand-new immersive “Duffy and Friends experience” in the coming year, focusing on the character “Duffy the Disney Bear”. (eap)
