Qatar: New Meryal Water Park Starts Soft Opening
(eap) Meryal Water Park, developed on Qetaifan Island North in Qatar, an artificial island created for various leisure activities, is now officially in its soft opening phase. The facility, commissioned by Qetaifan Projects (a wholly owned subsidiary of Katara Hospitality), is now welcoming its first guests a few months later than originally planned, but they are likely to be all the more excited about the 85-metre-high slide tower with the apt name “ICON Tower” – the park’s main attraction. This is because it is now the tallest slide tower in the world, with various slides from the Canadian manufacturer WhiteWater West offering slide fun for every taste. Two slides start from each of the six levels. Conveyor belts transport slide tires to the appropriate floors and those who wish can use one of the two passenger elevators (the ICON Tower is only a few meters smaller than Big Ben in London). Find out all about the new water park in one of our upcoming EAP magazine issues. ■
