Denmark: Faarup Sommerland Unveils Plan to Open New Roller Coaster “Foenix” with Novel “Stall Loop” Element in 2022

The theme park Faarup Sommerland, located in North Jutland, today announced its coming big roller coaster novelty “Foenix” for the upcoming 2022 season, which will be “Denmark's largest and fastest roller coaster”, according to its own statements. The attraction is being supplied by Dutch manufacturer Vekoma Rides. From April next year, visitors will be able to experience the park's new anchor attraction, which will be 40 metres high, 905 metres long and will offer 14 different elements. A world’s first will be the so-called “Stall Loop” element, combining a classic looping with an inverted camelback, making guests experience 2.5 seconds of weightlessness while they rush through the ride element overhead. The new coaster’s top speed will reach up to 95 km/h.

“This is an historic day for us here at Faarup Sommerland. We are extremely proud to finally unveil our plans to develop and build Denmark’s largest and fastest roller coaster, which will be ready for our guests next year. We’ve been working on it for a long time, and I look forward to see our guests enjoying what it has to offer,” says Niels Joergen Jensen, CEO of Fårup Sommerland, and enthusiastically adds, “This is one of the first times the world gets to see and experience a truly unique roller coaster design. We expect the stall loop, as well as all the other exciting Foenix elements, to become a magnet for many roller coaster lovers and enthusiasts all around the world. […],” he says.

Around 100 million Danish kroner (approx. 13 million euros) are being invested in the project, the most extensive single investment in the northern Danish park to date. The last new attraction is not far behind: Faarup Sommerland opened “Saven”, a Family Boomerang also by Vekoma, in 2020 (see EAP 3/2020). (eap)
