Viacom and Parques Reunidos to Open Several Nickelodeon FECs in Europe
As Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN), a division of the US-based media group Viacom Inc., and the international leisure park operator Parques Reunidos recently announced, the two companies will partner to bring “Nickelodeon” family entertainment centers to Europe.
The first center is scheduled to open in the Spanish city of Murcia in 2017. It will be located in the Centro Comercial Thader shopping mall, which is owned by Metrovacesa, a Spanish shopping mall operator. Covering an area of 3,100 square meters, the FEC will offer interactive activities, an adventure zone, a dedicated space for younger family members as well as several Nickelodeon-themed rooms. Of course, children and their parents will also have the possibility to meet popular Nickelodeon characters such as “SpongeBob SquarePants”, “Dora the Explorer” and the “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”. The center will also feature a food and beverage area as well as a Nickelodeon retail space. “This is the first step in an ambitious and promising project for our company’s strategic growth. It will soon be followed by important agreements to develop family entertainment centers with leading shopping mall operators in several European countries,” says Pedro Cortés, General Manager, Business Strategy and Development for Parques Reunidos.
In recent years, the Nickelodeon brand proved to be a great success at Parques Reunidos’ Parque de Atracciones and Movie Park Germany, which both feature Nickelodeon themed areas. (eap)
