Germany: Michiel Illy Appointed New Managing Director of Tropical Islands

Germany’s Tropical Islands vacation resort has recently appointed Michiel Illy new Managing Director of the facility, succeeding Jan Janssen, who had been Managing Director since 2013. Illy, who worked as Development Manager for Center Parcs Europe for many years and co-founded the M2 Leisure consulting agency focused on the development of holiday resorts several years ago, takes over his new position with the aim of bringing forward numerous projects on the Tropical Islands site.
“I’m looking forward to the challenges here at Tropical Islands. It is very important to develop the resort further as competition in Europe is strong,” commented the 51-year old Dutchman. And who could know better than him, given that Illy has been working in the segment of product development for already 17 years.
The planned measures include the construction of exclusive accommodation facilities as well as the expansion of the existing activities offer. Guests to Tropical Islands can already look forward to a new play structure for children, new activities such as archery and a petting zoo. (eap)
