USA: SeaWorld Orlando to Open New “Sesame Street“ Theme Area in Spring 2019
Last year, SeaWorld Orlando has announced its plans to build a “Sesame Street” theme area, following the announcement of SeaWorld Entertainment, Inc. and Sesame Workshop to continue their partnership through to December 2031 (cf. EAP news from May 23rd, 2017). The new theme world, construction works of which were initially planned to start in fall 2022, is now set to open at SeaWorld Orlando in spring 2019 already.
The colorful world featuring the IP’s beloved characters (Samson, Elmo & Co.) is being developed on a site of some 2.4 hectares (six acres), on the south end of the park, replacing “Shamu’s Happy Harbor” play area. In addition to iconic places of the kids’ television series such as “Big Bird’s nest” or “Mr. Hooper’s store”, the park’s youngest visitors can already look forward to an array of rides as well as “wet and dry” play areas. In addition, SeaWorld Orlando will have a daily parade featuring Elmo and other characters, which will be the park’s first-ever parade. (eap)
