Wouter Dekkers to Become CEO of Tropical Islands / New GM for Slagharen
After the takeover of Germany’s Tropical Islands by the Spanish operating group Parques Reunidos had only been announced in December (cf. EAP News from December 12, 2018), the acquisition has meanwhile been approved by the German authorities. At the same time, a new CEO was named for the tropical vacation resort: Starting in February, Dutchman Wouter Dekkers (pictured, l.), since 2017 General Manager of Slagharen Themepark & Resort in the Netherlands, will take over from Michiel Illy to manage the facility. Illy was appointed CEO of Tropical Islands at the end of 2017 in order to drive growth and development there (cf. EAP News from January 23, 2018 & EAP 4/2018).
Wouter Pops (see photo, r.) will be the new General Manager of Slagharen, which is also belonging to the portfolio of Parques Reunidos. Pops has been working at the park since 2003 in different management positions and already took over operational management in 2016. “I’m looking forward to the upcoming tasks and for me, it is a huge honor to take over from my namesake Wouter Dekkers,” explains Pops.
