Saudi Arabia: New Details on Planned Six Flags Qiddiya Theme Park Unveiled

Yesterday, the Qiddiya Investment Company (QIC) unveiled the park design concept for Six Flags Qiddiya, a high thrill theme park planned to be part of the future leisure and entertainment destination Qiddiya, which is under development at short distance to the country’s capital city of Riyadh (cf. EAP News of 11 Apr 2018). According to the plans, the park, the opening of which is now slated for 2023, will cover a site of 32 hectares and feature a total of 28 rides and attractions.

As central hub of the park “The Citadel” will feature a number of shops and cafés and serve as open-air stage for show performances. From here, guests will be able to enter the different theme areas. These are “The City of Thrills” (including a rollercoaster & a drop tower), “Discovery Springs” (a “water wonderland”), “Steam Town” (including a combined rollercoaster-dark ride attraction), “Twilight Gardens” (a kids area), “Valley of Fortune” (feat. a triple launch coaster) and “Grand Exposition” (with a hybrid wooden coaster & a gyrospin pendulum).

“Our vision is to make Six Flags Qiddiya a theme park that delivers all the thrills and excitement that audiences from all over the world have come to expect from the Six Flags brand, and to elevate those experiences with authentic themes connected to the location. As a place that will create indelible memories and moments of delight, telling stories that resonate with our guests is a central notion that will be evident throughout Qiddiya,” explains Michael Reininger, CEO of QIC.
