(eap) A new attraction is currently being built at the Eis-Greissler adventure park in Lower Austria. The ride will be called “Wolkenfänger” (Engl.: Cloud Catcher) and will be the first of its kind from Germany’s aufwind Group. A total of twelve gondolas, each with two seats, will boast a capacity for up to 24 persons, who will be able to decide for themselves at what height they make their circles, also in order to “catch” glowing clouds. To reach the maximum height of four meters, the cloud catchers can pull on a rope. When they let go of the rope, the gondola moves back down. Clouds are attached to the edge of the ride at different heights and when the gondola is at the height of the respective cloud, the players receive an acoustic signal and a point. At the end of the ride, the guests can then see on a screen how many points they have scored and who is the winner.

The park describes the story behind the new attraction as follows: “Rubi, our cow mascot, is lying in the pasture and looking up at the sky. She sees all the clouds and asks herself the question that all cows and children ask themselves sooner or later: ‘What do these clouds actually taste like?’ Then she builds the cloud catcher to find out.” Of course, players can’t eat the collected clouds, but “clouds” made of cotton candy and the delicious Eis-Greissler manufactory ice cream provide the right taste experience at the park.

The Blochberger family, who once started with their ice cream factory, have been expanding a play hill next to the factory into an entire adventure park for several years now. The “Eis-Zeitreise” (Engl.: Ice Time Travel) – a one-hour adventure tour with a simulator and a flying theatre (also from aufwind) – opened in 2021 and has turned into a real highlight among visitors (see our article in EAP 6/2021). The first roller coaster followed last year with the “Bucklbahn” (Engl.: Humpback Ride) by Gerstlauer Amusement Rides (see EAP 5/2023). Visitors will be able to try out the new attraction – the Cloud Catcher – as early as next month. ■
