“Nobel Prize in Architecture” for Peter Zumthor/Switzerland

 

The 66-year-old architect of the Vals thermal spa, Peter Zumthor, received the 2009 Pritzker Award of 100,000 USD, which is held in the architectural industry as the “Nobel Prize”. Zumthor had accomplished a masterpiece with the Vals spa, which opened back in 1996. In addition, he was also responsible for the Swiss pavilion at the World Expo in Hanover in 2000, and the new construction of the Diocesan Museum in Cologne. (eap)
