(eap) From 11th October to 3rd November, Alton Towers (operated by Merlin Entertainments) will once again celebrate its Halloween season event “Scarefest”. This year’s event will feature two new attractions. The first is “Compound”, a live action scare maze and the second is “Amigos in the Afterlife”, a family-friendly attraction. The former is described as a terrifying, intense maze based on the story of the popular “Nemesis Reborn” roller coaster, in which guests take on the role of the “Phalanx” – a shady organization originally tasked with keeping the beast Nemesis under control. The Inverted Coaster Nemesis (B&M) was recently reopened in spring this year under the name Nemesis Reborn (c.f. our EAP News from 22 Feb 2024).

In addition to the thrill attraction Compound, Amigos in the Afterlife is aimed at families and invites them to enter a living world where the gap between this life and the next is at its thinnest. Guided by friendly spirits, guests are facing the challenge to find their way back to the world of the living. On their journey through this magical realm of spooky effects, they meet mischievous characters who challenge them to tasks in order to earn their way back to the realm of the living.

Furthermore, attractions from the previous year such as “Altonville Mine Tours – Tiny’s Revenge”, “The Attic: Terror of the Towers” and the “Trick O’ Treat Town” in collaboration with Haribo are returning. Also, there will be another “escape room meets live action” scare maze, which will be reimagined in cooperation with the well-known British YouTuber Darren “Daz” Black (aka Daz Games) under the name “Daz Games: Panic Reloaded”.

“Get ready for creepy scares, shocks and thrills as Scarefest returns and is more spooktacular than ever. From taking on our new and returning scare attractions, to creating unforgettable memories at our wealth of family attractions, Scarefest at Alton Towers Resort is going to be the ultimate celebration of Halloween,” says Bianca Sammut, Divisional Director for Alton Towers Resort. ■
