Austria: Leading Family Hotel & Resort Dachsteinkönig Launches Virtual Reality Gaming Room
Upper Austria’s Leading Family Hotel & Resort Dachsteinkönig (located close to the city of Salzburg) recently launched its first Virtual Reality (VR) gaming room, which is equipped with the HTC Vive Pro and Oculus GO VR systems. Guests can enjoy a range of virtual experiences such as a climbing tour without harnesses, a flight into the universe or – a bit more extraordinary – a journey through the human body travelling in its blood circulation. Another highlight is the virtual adaptation of Cirque du Soleil performances, which can be experienced by players in an interactive way and in 360-degree scenery. Guests can play alone or in a multiplayer modus.
Hotel Director Florian Mayer (photo) is open to technological progress: “We keep up with the times as tourism business in particular could no longer exist without technology. I draw the line to the digital world where it intersects with lived hospitality. Even in the very distant future, guests at the Leading Family Hotel & Resort Dachsteinkönig will be picked up personally at the front door,” says Mayer.
Kids with a minimum age of ten years can try out the VR experiences accompanied by an adult, guests aged 14 years and older can enter the room unaccompanied. (eap)
