AxeZone: Trend Sport from the USA Conquers Germany
(eap) It has recently become possible to let axes fly “with permission” in Essen in Germany’s Ruhr region. In the AxeZone in Essen-Borbeck, visitors can try their hand at the trend sport of axe throwing. This leisure activity has already gone into overdrive in the USA and is now gradually being established in Germany. Axes are thrown from a distance of four to six meters in the AxeZone. In addition to axes, players can also use throwing knives, spades or ninja throwing cards – no previous experience is necessary. The attraction is aimed particularly at private or company groups. For larger groups, a competition is also possible in which different courses compete against each other. Each group is given a separate lane so that other participants cannot be hit. Safety instructions and assistance from the team should ensure safe fun.
In addition to the facility in Essen, there are already some other AxeZone locations in Germany , namely in Frankfurt am Main, Düsseldorf, Mainz, Duisburg, Kiel and Mönchengladbach. The brand is part of the FunZone Erlebniswelten (adventure worlds), which also offer other leisure activities such as laser tag, black light mini golf, escape rooms, paintball and team battles throughout Germany. The company’s managing directors are Steffen Appel and Patrick Wrobel, who are delighted about the opening of the new location: “Our first AxeZone locations, including in Frankfurt, Mainz and Düsseldorf, have already shown that we are on the right track: The concept has also met with huge enthusiasm here in Germany. We are therefore delighted to have now opened the largest facility of its kind in the Ruhr region and to make axe throwing a great leisure and party sport in Essen and the surrounding area.” ■
