Bäderland Hamburg Announces New Managing Director
(eap) After 13 years as Managing Director of Bäderland Hamburg and more than 25 years in leading positions in the pool industry as well as at the German Association of Public Pools, Dirk Schumaier is ending his active career. He will be succeeded as Bäderland CEO by Susan Zetzmann from Jena.
Susan Zetzmann übernimmt zum 01.07.2025 die Geschäftsführung.
Susan Zetzmann will take up her new position in Hamburg on 1 July 2025. After her vocational training and many years of practical experience in public pools, she became pool manager, leading the municipal pools in Jena and Rudolstadt in a dual role for almost ten years. With Bäderland Hamburg, Zetzmann is taking over Germany’s second largest municipal pool company with over 500 employees, currently 25 locations and around four million guests a year. After a joint transition period, Dirk Schumaier will leave the company at his own request on 31 July 2025 and retire to private life.
“In his 13 years as Managing Director, Dirk Schumaier has significantly shaped the profile of Bäderland Hamburg GmbH and successfully implemented forward-looking projects such as the core refurbishment and expansion of the Alster indoor swimming pool. He also steered Bäderland through the Covid19 and energy crisis very well. I would like to thank him warmly for his commitment. At the same time, I am delighted that we have been able to recruit a highly competent and experienced new Managing Director for Bäderland with Susan Zetzmann, who will be introduced to the business operations here by Dirk Schumaier for a month. I wish her all the best for her start,” said Anselm Sprandel, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Bäderland Hamburg and State Councillor of the Ministry for Environment, Climate, Energy and Agriculture (BUKEA). ■
