Balloon Museum “Lands” in Germany
(eap) After successful exhibitions in Rome, Paris, Milan, Madrid, Naples, London and Atlanta, the Balloon Museum art exhibition format, launched in 2020, has now also arrived in Germany. Visitors can discover the “EmotionAir” exhibition program in Düsseldorf’s Glasmacherviertel district. A total of 20 international artists have contributed works to the exhibition, which can be visited until August 11.
On some 17,000 square meters, EmotionAir deals with the history of inflatable objects. From the invention of the hot air balloon in the 18th century to contemporary art icons such as the “Balloon Dog Series” by American artist Jeff Koons. In the exhibition, the artists present works that relate to certain emotions or behaviours influenced by them. The special thing is that visitors to the exhibition are not just spectators, but can also touch and interact with the art.
Each piece is designed to inspire an intimate dialog with one’s emotions and offer a unique insight into the complexity of the human experience. From the imposing installation “Cube Abyss” (by Cyril Lancelin), which confronts visitors with fear, to works that celebrate joy in various forms, to the work “Hyperfeeling”, which invites visitors to immerse themselves in numerous spheres in order to experience all emotions.
The creative force behind the Balloon Museum is Italy-based Lux Holding. President Roberto Fantauzzi explains: “We are delighted to finally be able to present the Balloon Museum to the people of Düsseldorf. This colossal new exhibition features some of the most exciting contemporary artists and we are honoured to work with them to realize this unique exhibition. Prepare to discover a journey through some of the best immersive, living and breathing artworks in the world.”
Besides the exhibition in Düsseldorf, the Balloon Museum is currently running another exhibition entitled “Pop Air: Art is inflatable” in Barcelona, Spain. Furthermore, “Lets Fly: Art has no limits” starts on Saturday, June 22 in Miami, Florida. ■
