Bedburg / Germany: Green light for Monte Mare

At the beginning of August, the town of Bedburg and the operating company Monte Mare concluded a contract worth 17.5 million euros for a new sport and leisure complex (total area: 30,700 square metres). The town of Bedburg will, according to the Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger, pay approx. 337,000 euros annually for the new baths for the duration of the contract of 25 years as part of a PPP model. Each year, approx. 60,000 customers are expected to visit the sports area (six 25-metre rails) and 120,000 visitors are expected to visit the main Sauna & Wellness centre. The new Monte Mare Bedburg is expected to open in the first half of 2010. (eap)
