Belgium: New Plopsaqua Waterpark Announced for Hannut-Landen
Last Friday, Belgian‘s Plopsa group and representatives of the Belgian municipalities of Hannut and Laden officially announed to open a new waterpark, Plopsaqua Hannut-Landen in 2020. The new waterpark will be a corporation between Plopsa, the city of Hannut and the city of Landen. It will be located between the two cities, each of which belongs to another region of the country. While Hannut is located in French-speaking Wallonia, Landen is located in Flanders, where most of the people speak Dutch.
Covering a total area of 4,800 square meters, the new waterpark will feature an attractions offer similar to that at Plopsaqua De Panne, opened back in 2015 (cf. EAP 3/2015). A total of 22.5 million Euros will be invested in the creation of the park. Attractions will include a 25-meter-pool with eight lanes, an instruction pool, a wave pool with rain effects, a wild river, four waterslides, a toddler pool and two water play areas (one indoors and one outdoors). The main characters featured within the park will be “Maya the Bee“ and “Bumba“. A third Plopsa character will be announced soon. (eap)
