Belgium: Plopsa Celebrates Official Opening of Plopsaqua Hannut-Landen
Around one year after the construction work on the new Plopsaqua Hannut-Landen has been completed, the new indoor bathing complex celebrates its official opening today. This all-new Plopsa water park developmet costs of which amounted to some 25 million Euros, offers a variety of family-friendly water attractions on its 4,800 square metres of indoor and outdoor areas. These include the “Stormbad“ weather-themed wave pool and white water river (both by API Water Fun), the “Watertuin“ water playground (iPlay) and further interactive water play elements. Furthermore, German slide manufacturer wiegand.waterrides supplied three large slides: the “Sky Drop“ speed slide, the “De Glijdende Banden“ tube slide and the “Disco Slide“ with light effects.
“Since December we have been able to open the municipal area to allow residents, schools and sports enthusiasts to swim their weekly laps here, but we are delighted to finally open the leisure area today. [...],“ comments Plopsa CEO Steve van den Kerkhof: “We expect around 400,000 visitors a year at Plopsaqua Hannut-Landen,“ he adds.
Initially, Plopsaqua Hannut-Landen will be operating at reduced capacity and visitors are asked to wear a mask as of the age of twelve years in the dry areas of the bath. Tickets have to be purchased in advance via the parks online ticket shop. If you want to know more facts about the new Plopsaqua destination then read our story about it in our EAP issue 2/2021. (eap)
