Belgium: WinterGlow illuminates the city of Bruges
After its premier last winter, the city of Bruges is illuminated during the “WinterGlow“ light festival again this year. The Belgium-based company Painting with Light created ten different light installations in cooperation with local artists, schools, youth and cultural organisations, which now form a walking experience along a defined route throughout the entire city. Bruges‘ sights such as the cathedral or the historic train station are illuminated with light installations, which are thematically conncted to the city‘s history such a the craftsmanship lace making.
“We opted this year for ten installations and locations for a cozy evening walk through the city of Bruges. Last August we commissioned Painting with Light with this project as they had successfully implemented the previous edition. […] We succeeded in creating a safe and magical evening activity. More than ever, people need light, hope and connection in these times,” explains Lieve Moeremans of Brugge Plus.
