Canada: CAVU Designwerks Introduces New Walkthrough Ride Concept
Under the name of “Quest”, the Canadian company CAVU Designwerks has presented the leisure industry with a new, immersive attractions concept yesterday, which the provider itself calls a “walkthrough ride” and thus assigns it to a new genre of attraction. The concept combines the basic patterns of a walkthrough attraction with the mechanics and theatrical elements of a dark ride, complemented by state-of-the-art interactive technologies. However, the experience and storytelling are decoupled from the use of a vehicle – unlike on a classic theme ride or rollercoaster.
This means that guests together in small groups explore a themed world by foot in which they can interact with their surroundings in a variety of ways. Depending on the module – Quest is a modular system that can be put together according to needs and budget – for example, a motion base in the form of a rickety bridge or weight table can be used in the themed environment, or visitors enter a kind of underground cave system where they have to solve certain tasks and can become active thanks to interactive technology. CAVU offers a total of 50 different modules, offering the greatest possible flexibility and applicability, no matter of the size of the project, making it suitable for both large theme park projects and smaller leisure facilities (including temporary museum exhibits, brand experiences etc.) as well as for the use in queue line areas or in pre or post shows.
