Chaos Karts: New AR Go-Kart Fun in Manchester and Dubai
(eap) A new Augmented Reality (AR) go-karting experience has recently opened in Manchester, England: “Chaos Karts” is the name of the attraction that combines karting with digital gaming elements and can be enjoyed by racing enthusiasts at least nine years old. It’s like a classic kart race in an indoor arena, but with the difference that the race course is projected onto the floor with which the karts can interact. There’s potentially an infinite number of tracks that can be projected, providing a new experience every time. Non-physical obstacles, speed boosters and gadgets that can be used to outrun competitors are intended to provide fun à la “Mario Kart”. Anti-collision technology is in place to ensure the highest possible level of safety during the race, so that neither helmets nor special driving suits are needed for the experience. This new attraction in Manchester was realized by the company The Ents Inc., which was founded by Tom Lionetti-Maguire, who has already implemented The Crystal Maze Live Experience attractions in London & Manchester as well as Tomb Rider The Live Experience in London with his company Little Lion Entertainment. Another Chaos Karts ride is scheduled to open in Dubai this winter.
“We are so excited to be launching this brand-new attraction, and especially to be doing so in Manchester and Dubai this year. Creating a real-life version of a videogame has been an obsession for some time and Chaos Karts is a real game changer. It’s literally like stepping into your favourite racing game and I know the people of both these great cities are going to love it,” said Lionetti-Maguire. ■
