Congratulations! Bernard Meyer Celebrates 75th Birthday and 50th Work Anniversary

(eap) Bernard Meyer, Managing Director of the MEYER WERFT shipping company, celebrates his 75^th birthday today and at the same time his 50^th anniversary of working at Meyer Werft. In 1973, Meyer graduated as an engineer specialised in shipbuilding. In the same year he started his career at Meyer Werft and became a member of the management team only three years later. Since January 1982 he has been managing partner of Meyer Werft. Together with his father, he succeeded in entering the cruise ship building market in the mid-1980s. Against the industry trend at the time, the shipyard grew continuously. Since 2012 and 2016, Meyer’s sons Dr. Jan Meyer and Tim Meyer have been the seventh generation to serve as managing directors of the company. In addition to Meyer Werft in Papenburg, the family also runs NEPTU WERFT in Rostock-Warnemünde since 1997 and MEYER TURKU in Finland since 2014 together with an experienced management team with the MEYER Group. ■
