Construction Work of the Therme Manchester Can Begin
Recently, the former conference and exhibition center in Manchester’s leisure and retail complex TraffordCity was demolished, allowing the Therme Group to begin construction of Therme Manchester. The demolition was carried out by regeneration company Peel L&P. 110.000 square meters of space are now available for construction of the over EUR 280 million (GBP 250 million) project. The spa is intended to be an urban wellness oasis that promotes mental and physical health. A variety of attractions will be offered here for all ages and incomes. In addition to thermal and swimming pools, visitors can look forward to an indoor water park and beach. There are also plans for an educational centre where schools and community groups can learn more about nature and sustainability.
“We are delighted to see the demolition works complete; it is fantastic to see the site cleared and showing its amazing potential to be a global wellbeing destination. It defines a key milestone for us as we continue our journey to bring Therme to Manchester, a perfect location for our first facility in the UK,” announces Chief Development Officer of Therme Group UK, Richard Land. In the long term, Therme Group wants to open sites in Glasgow, London and Wales as part of its “90/90” vision (making a Therme accessible to 90 percent of the UK population within a 90-minute travel time).
