Denmark: Universe Park with Expanded High Ropes Course & New Curved Sky Rail Element

The Universe Park in Denmark, based in Nordborg, has expanded its Sky Trail® high ropes course, which was built in 2017 (cf. EAP News of 16 May 2017), in time for the upcoming season, due to the great popularity of the facility, so that even more guests can now climb at the same time. The eight-pole attraction, built by the British company of Innovative Leisure and now extended by the team adding a third level, is now a total of 15 metres high and can be used by up to 60 people at the same time. The course has a total of 37 elements – new features include a curved Sky Rail zipline element, which Innovative Leisure says is the first installation of this curved course element in Europe. In addition, a “Roller Rail“ and a “Rolling Log“ have been integrated on the new third level.

“In this project we added one more floor to the existing Sky Trail high ropes. We also focus more on science learning by moving in height. Along the way, we give guests hints at what happens to their bodies when they are high up and why it happens compared to the same activity on the ground. The new zip on the third floor is quite special. It’s curved, so you start by setting off into nothing. The whole flying experience is amplified,“ explains Troels Nim Andersen, project manager at Universe.

With its profile of awakening interest especially in the STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) fields of competence through leisure and entertainment offers for the whole family, Universe Park attracts more than 140,000 visitors through its gates every year. Find out what new attractions other European theme parks will be presenting to their visitors this year in our Park Report in the next issue of EAP (to be published on 1 March). (eap)
