Details about New Dutch Indoor Park “Bommelwereld” Announced
(eap) Bommelwereld, a completely new indoor amusement park being built in Groenlo, the Netherlands, near the Marveld Recreatie vacation park (and as an additional family leisure offer of this) is set to open next year. Jora Vision, who is responsible for the design of the 9,000 square meter park, announced details of the attractions that will be on offer at Bommelwereld during the IAAPA Expo Europe in Amsterdam. Thematically, the park will bring Marten Toonder’s stories about the comic duo “Oliver B. Bommel” and “Tom Poes” to life.
Visitors will enter the park through a castle. There, they will find a “Hall of Fame” gallery in the entrance area, which will immerse them into the story of Oliver B. Bommel. A theater in the entrance area will also provide space for show performances. Upon entering the attraction hall, visitors can decide whether they prefer to slide into Bommel’s world – a nine-metre-high and over 30-metre-long slide from Metallbau Emmeln will be available for this purpose – or whether they wish to take the classic stairs. Once inside the large hall, visitors will find a store, a restaurant and a total of 15 other attractions.

With a track length of 257 meters, the coaster named “Bulder Baan” will wind its way through a rocky landscape and reach a maximum speed of 45 km/h. Nearby, guests will find “Razende Rommel”, a Mini Flume from ABC Rides with a length of four meters. A 12-metre-high Family Free Fall Tower from Zierer and an almost ten-metre-high Interactive Climbing Tower from Sunkid will offer guests a view of the park from above. Furthermore, kids can “let off steam” on a play structure from ELI Play and in a Funhouse from Gosetto.
Moreover, the following rides are coming to Bommelwereld: a Vintage Car Ride and a Duck Carousel from Metallbau Emmeln, a Go Go Bounze, a Rocking Tug and a Mini Jet ride from Zamperla, a Double Decker Venetian Carousel, Kiddie Bumper Cars and a Swing Carousel from Bertazzon as well as Crazy Cars from ABC Rides.
“Bommelwereld is more than just an amusement park; it’s a celebration of Dutch cultural heritage,” says Edwin Bomers from Marveld Recreatie. “We’re excited to offer a year-round destination where families can create lasting memories while immersing themselves in the charming world of Olivier B. Bommel.” The park is expected to welcome 100,000 visitors a year and will also feature a conference center and space for a Bommel museum, making it a comprehensive entertainment destination. ■
