Disney: Successful Start into New Business Year
The start into the new business year was successful for the Disney company: Primarily the Disney parks and Disney cruise lines generated a profit during the first quarter (Oct. to Dec. 2011) of the new fiscal year. Disney achieved an increase in sales of 1 percent to 10.8 billion Dollars (8.1 billion Euros). Hence, the company’s profit increased by 12 percent to 1.5 billion Dollars (1.1 billion Euros). It is only the European Disney park that breaks ranks: Disneyland Paris, celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, was indeed able to record more visitors than before, but increased personnel costs resulted in a smaller profit according to the group. Nevertheless, the park near Paris invites visitors to join its 20th anniversary celebrations from April 1, 2012 full of surprises and new entertainment. The new show “Disney Dreams®!” will dazzle guests with thousands of lights, colors and magic at Sleeping Beauty Castle. The street parade “Disney Magic on Parade!” will offer new music, new floats, a new choreography and new characters. Finally, extended opening hours will enable visitors to stay a little bit longer at Main Street U.S.A. (during the week) from April 1 to September 30, 2012. (eap)
