Europa-Park/MackNeXT & VR Coaster Partner with Vicon to Create “Infinite“ VR Experiences
Germany’s Europa-Park, MackNeXT and VR Coaster have partnered with Vicon, a company specialized in motion capture technology, to create a ground-breaking location-based virtual reality (LBVR) entertainment platform. The “Yullbe” platform will provide “infinite” free-roaming VR environments, with full-body tracking of 32 simultaneous players in large venues, in order to unlock the full commercial potential of the LBVR market for theme parks. The new platform, which was created by MackNeXT and VR Coaster, has been built on “Origin by Vicon” and integrates the use of Vicon’s latest “Viper” and “Viper X” cameras alongside high-performance Pulsar active marker tracking clusters.
The new LBVR platform’s first commercial installation will be located next to Rulantica at Europa-Park, and is scheduled to open this summer. The VR technology has been combined with MackNeXT’s unique family-friendly content and operational expertise to ensure that the large-scale, immersive LBVR experiences enabled by the platform minimize customer wait times and player set up while providing maximum uptime and commercial value, with a throughput of up to 48 people per hour. The fusion of seamless technology, operational structure and commercial model forms a new platform that will also be of interest to other IP holders to develop their content to be showcased in a Yullbe attraction.
