Europa-Park Opens New “Liechtenstein” Theme Area

Europa-Park kicks-off its 49th season tomorrow, Saturday – visitors to Germany’s largest theme park can look forward to its more than 100 attractions and shows as well as to the new, now 16th themed area dedicated to the Principality of Liechtenstein. Located between the theme worlds of Switzerland and England, the new area attracts visitors with the smooth “Liechtenstein Balloon Ride” family attraction. The ride is a classic that opened in 1996 and has now been completely redesigned for the new themed area. Guests can enjoy a relaxing ride aloft in a total of ten gondolas designed as colourful hot air balloons. In addition, the “Liechtenstein Square” shapes the area, which is decorated with the emblem of the Principality. A miniature version of the “Liechtensteiner Weg”, which in the country leads in numerous hiking route sections through all eleven municipalities of Liechtenstein, whets the appetite for a trip to the small German-speaking state. Folklore and traditional events are already planned, which are to be part of the entertainment programme at Europa-Park in the future as part of an annual “Liechtenstein Festival”.

Christian Wolf, Board Chairman of Marketing Liechtenstein, is pleased about the opening of the new themed area: “The diversity of Liechtenstein surprises our visitors again and again. We are a very attractive holiday destination, but also a strong business location. [...] We are very happy about the cooperation with Europa-Park, which has always had many fans in Liechtenstein.” Europa-Park owner Roland Mack says: “Liechtenstein is a very good fit for Europa-Park. The Principality of Liechtenstein is small and at the same time very likeable. [...] Our designers have implemented the Liechtenstein theme with great attention to detail. Europa-Park visitors now experience a piece of this Alpine monarchy during their stay at the park: welcome to the Europa-Park family, or as they say in the Principality: Hoi zemma in Liechtenstein.”

In addition to the new themed area, Europa-Park has other surprises in store for its guests this year: For example, the “Bluefire Dome” in the “Iceland” theme area hosts YULLBE Go, a virtual reality application for visitors as young as five years (under eight years accompanied by an adult), who can experience various short Virtual Reality (VR) adventures. VR experiences such as “Moon to Mars”, “Ed & Edda” and “Phantom of the Opera” will be available there. A new secret agent mission can be experienced in the YULLBE stand-alone attraction not far from Europa-Park’s Hotel Krønasår. Meanwhile, work on the next new themed area at Europa-Park is in full swing: Just in time for the 50th anniversary season, “Croatia” is to be launched with a big highlight attraction – the first Big Dipper 2.0 by Mack-Rides. The model of the park’s upcoming new signature ride is already stirring up anticipation among roller coaster fans ... (eap)
