FlyOver Chicago Takes Off in March

(eap) FlyOver Chicago, the fourth FlyOver attraction from the US developer of travel experiences and attractions Pursuit, will start operating on March 1. Following FlyOver Canada (EAP 6/13), FlyOver Iceland (EAP 5/19) and FlyOver Las Vegas (EAP 6/21), the new flying experience – located on the city‘s famous Navy Pier – will show Chicago from previously unseen perspectives.

“The FlyOver journey in Chicago embraces the concept of the strength of the individual and the power of community that is present throughout the history of Chicago,” said Lisa Adams, COO and Executive Producer, FlyOver Attractions by Pursuit. “The opportunity to try and capture the energy of a city and humanity within a city, and to do this in Chicago, was incredibly exciting.”

The FlyOver experience in Chicago offers an extensive pre-show before the actual flight experience, which presents the characters and settings of the city accompanied by music. During the subsequent nine-minute flight in the Flying Theatre (“i-Ride” system from Brogent Technologies), a total of 60 guests can take a seat on one of various levels in front of the almost 20-metre-wide big screen and experience daring flight maneuvers through the city, supported by wind, mist and scent – from a height of 13,000 feet to tight flights through the streets of the city and into buildings such as the Chicago Theatre...

Rick Rothschild was once again hired as creative director for the new attraction, while David Mossop worked as writer and director. Rich Lederer and Rio Mitchell (the latter from the production company Sherpas Cinema) were responsible for the film content, while Gabriel Kocher operated the drones. The musical score was provided by Elliot Wheeler and Rich Daniels.

“From new drone technology developed specifically for FlyOver, to a musical score that introduces collaborative new music, to stories of Chicago told by its people, this journey will ultimately engage and entertain viewers with an immersive urban experience that pushes the boundaries of FlyOver attractions in both technology and style,” said Adams.

Another FlyOver attraction has already been announced for 2025 in Toronto. ■
