France: Disney's Newport Bay Club Now Four-Star Hotel
Following extensive renovation works and improvements to its service and hotel offerings, Disney's Newport Bay Club, Disneyland Paris’ largest hotel and one of the largest hotels in Europe, recently received its fourth star in the French hotel classification. In September last year, the 1,100-room hotel made its application for the fourth star to Atout France, the French tourism development agency. An independent organization then evaluated 66 different rooms, the pool, the restaurants and the hotel’s garden. The jury also assessed the employees’ dealing with guests. In total, Disney’s Newport Bay Club had to meet 246 special criteria for the classification, including room size, cleanliness, room service and accessibility.
In the course of its renovation works, which took place between 2013 and 2015, the hotel modernized its interior and exterior areas. The hotel modernization is part of a long-term renovation program at Disneyland Park and the Disney hotels. Each year, Disney's Newport Bay Club records about one million guests and a bed occupancy of 1.4 million. Furthermore, the hotel hosts 450 business events annually. (eap)
