France: New 5D Cinema Attraction at Marineland Now Open
On April 7th, French Marineland sea animal park has launched its new visitor attraction “Cinéma Adventure 5D”, taking visitors on an adventurous journey to the North and South Poles. The 132-seat cinema, which is the first attraction of this kind at the park, is located in the auditorium below the grandstand of the large killer whale tank. The approx. four and a half-minute film with the title “Arctic 1” (produced by The Juice) tells the story of researcher “Steel” and his accomplice, who set out for a journey on a self-made ship towards the polar regions. Of course – the journey holds unexpected surprises for the guests.
The park, belonging to Spanish Parques Reunidos operating group, has worked in partnership with the French company CL Corporation to develop the 5D cinema. In order to create a fully immersive experience, the motion seats (from D-Box Technologies) feature several special effects such as wind, water spray, leg ticklers, smell and vibration. Four of the seats are designed for disabled guests. With this new attraction, the park aims at further modernizing its offer for visitors. Pascal Picot, who took over the position as park director in June 2017, says that the new 5D cinema brings along the opportunity to increase especially younger guests and teens’ awareness for the protection of animals and the environment.
