France: New Giant Wheel Opened in Paris
Recently, a new Giant Wheel from Mondial was opened at Paris’ Place de la Concorde. Featuring a height of 70 meters, it is without a doubt one of the world’s tallest transportable wheels. Only the R80XL transportable wheel, built by the ride manufacturer Maurer and Ronald Bussnik in 2013, is even eight meters higher (cf. EAP, issue 2/2013). The “Roue de Paris” features 48 enclosed gondolas from which guests can enjoy a unique panoramic view of the French capital.
The new attraction replaces the previous 55-meter wheel, which was built by Mondial as well and welcomed around 300,000 passengers each year. The “Roue de Paris” is owned and operated by showman Marcel Campion. “We find it very heartening this great showman has again trusted Mondial to provide him such a legacy attraction,” says Mondial’s owner Froukje Knijpstra.
