GB/Schottland: Midlothian Snowsports Centre Receives Million Pound Development

The Midlothian Snowsports Centre, which features artificial skiing slopes and is located only about a 20-minute drive from the Scottish capital of Edinburgh, will be transformed into a multifunctional leisure destination dubbed “Destination Hillend“. An investment of about 13.8 million Pounds (approx. 15.5 million Euros) is scheduled for the realization of this project. The planned facility expansion includes new attractions such as a zipline, a new reception building, a food court, associated retail stores, glamping accommodation offerings and an activity dome with a high ropes course and soft play area. Plans also envisage a hotel for further accommodation options.

Among the new attractions that should transform the centre into a leisure destination for families is also an “Alpine Coaster“, which is currently planned by the German manufacturer Wiegand. Recently, a first new activity offer has been launched: Visitors are now able to use a new freestyle jump ski slope. The artificial slope, which is around 130 meters long, was supplied by the British skiing company Briton Engineering. During the construction and development phases, the facility will remain open.
