Germany: Construction of Tropical Islands Expansion Starts Today
In January this year, Germany’s Tropical Islands resort located in Krausnick, close to Berlin, announced its plans for the development of an outdoor area (cf. EAP News from January 8, 2015). Following the enlargement of the “Mobile Homes Park” at the beginning of July, the construction phase starts today. For this purpose, Distric Administrator Stephan Loge and Tropical Islands’ CEO Jan Janssen officially lay the foundation stone of the new outdoor waterpark. Some preparations for the underground water storages have already been made. These storages will, once finished, collect water from the pools and the planned 250-meter Wild Water River at night in order to prevent a cool down of the water temperature. Additionally, the construction of a summer pool, which already disposes of the first stainless-steel walls, will be completed. In the next step, the landscaping for the Wild Water River and the thematic design of the area, including sunbathing areas, a terrace used for gastronomy, sports grounds and a dune, will follow. When completed, the new outdoor facility located at the south side of Tropical Islands’ hall will cover an area of around 35,000 square meters. Jan Janssen then sees the resort’s advantage in its independence of the weather. (eap)
