Germany: Fort Fun Announces New Indian Theme Area with Air Race Attraction for 2019
Visitors to Fort Fun Abenteuerland, a Western theme park located in Germany’s Sauerland region, can look forward to the opening of a new theme area in spring 2019, dubbed “Indian Valley”. Its main attraction will be “Thunderbirds”, an Air Race 8.2 model from Italian supplier Zamperla, inviting guests to a thrilling flight with wild turns and rollovers. The ride will feature eight gondola arms, each for two passengers, who will experience an acceleration of up to 3G when rushing through the air. With an investment volume of around one million Euros, it is the largest investment for Fort Fun in one single attraction for more than ten years.
“The American continent and its history are the theme of our park, but in recent years our visitors have not been able to discover a lot about the Native Americans, and we would like to change that,” explains Andreas Sievering, Managing Director of Fort Fun. “Thunderbirds will be situated right in the middle of our park between the Dark Raver and the Wild Eagle, both also attractions designed around Native American myths. […] It is important to us to preserve our classical attractions and the charm of our park, as shown by the investments made in recent years. But now it was just time for a great novelty for our guests”, he tells.
Since May 2017, Fort Fun has been operated by French Looping Group (cf. EAP news from April 27th, 2017). Already within the first months of ownership, the group has invested into the development of the park – this year, the entire Western City has been renovated, amongst other measures. After optimizing the infrastructure the group will now further roll-out the park’s visitor offerings. (eap)
