Germany: Planning Phase Began for New Thermal Outdoor Pool in Bad Lippspringe
The Thermal-Freibad Bad Lippspringe (Eng.: Thermal Outdoor Pool) looks ahead to a modern future. The municipal of Bad Lippspringe, a town located in Germany’s Eastern Westphalian region, recently announced the complete reconstruction of the outdoor pool, which was orginially opened in 1980. Municipal representatives and leaders of the local swimming clubs formed a project group in order to develop a future-oriented solution.
Plans include an 875 square metre-large multipurpose pool, which will feature four 50 metre-long swimming lanes, a diving board tower, a wide slide in the area for non-swimmers, a waterfall and massage jets. Aditionally, a woodden deck and a sun deck will be installed at the edge of the pool. For the youngest visitors, an 85 square metre-large splash pool will be developed. “[…] We’d like to have a new thermal outdoor pool appealing to every citizen of Bad Lippspringe, but also we want to create an attraction for the whole region,“ explains Bad Lippspringe’s Mayor Andreas Bee, who is also member of the project group.
A total of 4.5 million euros will be invested into the project, partly financed with subsidies of the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia. (eap)
