Giant New Play Castle Now Open at Dutch BillyBird Park Drakenrijk
(eap) BillyBird® Park Drakenrijk in Beesel (province of Limburg), located near the German-Dutch border, has recently been delighting its guests with a new attraction: The new play area “Riddersheide” has been created on a ten-meter-high sand hill on the park grounds, the main attraction of which is a 15-meter-high play castle. A dragon is enthroned on the spire of the imposingly placed castle. While the name-giving theming element was handcrafted by the Venlo artist Joop van den Heuvel, the overall project was realized in cooperation with the Dutch company AmusementProf, which created the design for the play castle and also helped implementing it. The castle houses a play structure made of steel and wooden elements, which includes various play features, including several stainless-steel slides. Light, smoke and music from EVRST MUSIC complete the fully themed playing area. Several visitors’ paths lead to the castle, which is complemented by a new snack bar in the form of a beach bar.
Besides the park in Limburg, which was originally opened in 2013, there is a sister park in the province of Noord-Brabant, BillyBird® Park Hemelrijk. Both parks are mainly known for their bathing lakes and their offer is primarily aimed at families with children. ■
