Ground Broken For New Holiday Village at LEGOLAND Windsor Resort
Ahead of the 2023 season kick-off tomorrow, construction has already begun on a new overnight offering at LEGOLAND® Windsor Resort, which is part of the Merlin Entertainments Group. In addition to the LEGOLAND® Resort and Castle Hotel, guests will be able to stay at the new LEGOLAND® Woodland Village as of spring 2024. On ten acres of land, 150 LEGO®-themed cabin-style lodges, a restaurant and a family entertainment centre will be built. Surrounded by trees and near a lake, resort guests can look forward to staying close to the park while being surrounded by nature. Visitors can also look forward to decorative LEGO® animals, LEGO® building activities and storytelling areas.
Nearly EUR 40 million (GBP 35 million) is being invested in the project, which is expected to create more than 60 new jobs and apprenticeships, as well as to boost the tourism in the region. In addition, the new overnight accommodation will be Merlin’s first to be operated on a carbon-neutral basis, as the company communicates. To achieve this goal, the entertainment group plans to reject on the use of fossil fuels and is working together with Carbon Trust, a company that specializes in helping companies to become carbon-neutral.
“Breaking ground on LEGOLAND® Woodland Village is a significant milestone in the history of one of the UK’s much loved family entertainment theme parks. Our vision to create the first LEGO® themed Woodland village is an innovative way of demonstrating how LEGOLAND® Windsor Resort will continue to meet the growing needs of our guests and will be a major economic boost for the local area providing high quality and sustainable tourism for the future,” said Divisional Director for LEGOLAND® Windsor Resort, Helen Bull.
