Hamburg / Germany: Cable Car over the Elbe River?

According to the media, the cable car company Doppelmayr and musical producer Stage Entertainment plan to connect Hamburg’s St. Pauli entertainment district with the site of the International Garden Show (IGS) in its Wilhelmsburg district. The project requires a total investment of 100 million Euros of which each company would invest 50 million Euros. The cable car’s route would be 5.2 kilometers long and go over the city’s port. The operation of the cable car is scheduled to start in 2013 and is initially planned for five to ten years. (eap)
